I did it!

I ran 3 miles! Can you believe it? 3 miles nonstop! Continuous! Without stopping! I am not going to lie....it was hard as hell. When I was finished I wanted to yell out loud to the whole gym that I ran 3 miles.....but I didn't. I contained myself...plus I was way too out of breath! It took me about 38 minutes and I stayed on the treadmill another 15 minutes to cool down. My heart rate was way up there! Running 3 miles has been a goal of mine for a few years. I never thought that I would be able to do it. I am so very proud of myself for not giving up. Gosh, if I can run 3 miles....then so can you!

Week 16 weigh in

So, I will lose weight if I stick to the program! I lost 2 lbs. this week. Do you know what that means? I met my first goal! YAY!!!!! Finally! I think I have been trying to lose this pound for a month or something! I have been teetering on that edge...and I finally got over that hump. I had a pretty good week....I didn't feel as hungry as usual....which I think helped. I was doing so fabulous until a coworker brought in panera bagels to work!!!! ughh!!!! I had 2 bagels with cream cheese! One bagel was 8 points!!!!!!! Evil bagels...that is what they are.... I really need to work on those spontaneous events that come up.......

Now for the fun part! I need to think of a reward for meeting my first goal....hmmmm........

Cute

Allison's school kept asking for an old boot........and I wasn't sure why....and as Ervin was cleaning out the garage the other day he was going to throw these boots out. I am glad that I caught him in time because then I wouldn't have this work of art! I thought it was really cute! : )

World Affair recap

Below is a slideshow of the fair. I had a great time as always. It does put a dent in the wallet though! I think we spent over 150 dollars during the whole weekend! Crazy!!! Anyway....enjoy! It is the next post down...for some reason it wouldn't work if I put words in the body or title? I don't know!?

my neighbor is a creep

This week I found out that my neighbor who lives just across the street is a sex offender. He moved in a few months ago and has kept to himself. I have rarely seen him outside. My husband helped him a few times with some things here and there, but we have never had a problem with him. The neighborhood found out by accident. Another neighbor has their house for sale and almost had it sold until the buyer ran a search of the neighborhood. They backed out because they found that there was a sex offender that lived a few houses down.

I was totally shocked when I heard the news. I then felt very disgusted and vulnerable. We found out this creep had some kind of sexual interaction with a four year old. They are saying that there was no penetration, but how do you know for sure? He also has 4 counts against him. Anyway, I am writing this post so that you all too will be aware of who lives in your neighborhood. Run a search so that you know where the creeps are. I know that there are people like this out there everywhere.....but it just sucks that this creep has to live right across the street.....just a few steps away from my children. It is too close to home. So, do your homework so that you too will be aware....and keep your children safe.

Week 15 weigh in

This week was a rough week. I stopped counting points Friday night. I ate my way around the world and finished my tour at Sonic last night. I am not going to even make any excuses. I made good and bad choices. I would like to say I made mostly good choices. I didn't overeat at the fair like I usually would have. I stopped when I was full and I didn't buy any desserts which is a miracle! So, I gained a half pound this week and I am actually okay with that. I am ready to begin a new week. I actually missed journaling my food and missed counting points! What? You may never hear that again! I have already been to the Y, which this morning I didn't feel like going, but I did and felt really good afterwards. My workout started out rough because I just felt so heavy...but then it did get better and easier as the class went on. One thing I kept up on during the week was exercise. I actually jogged for 2 miles straight! It took me 24 minutes. One of my goals is to jog 3 miles nonstop so I feel like I am almost there! So, my goal for this week is to get to my 25 pound mark! I need to lose 1.8 pounds so it is achievable, I just need to focus!

I almost forgot!

Maddie is 7 months old today! I am telling you, time is flying!!!! I know I say that every month but it is so true! I cannot keep up!

Her hair is getting so long. Everywhere I go people always comment on her hair. " Look at all that hair she has!" or "Wow, her hair is long, are you going to cut it?" I don't know why I keep getting that last question. I love that her hair is long and NO, I am not cutting her hair! Even if I wanted to, I don't think I could bring myself to do it! It is her baby hair........she has had that hair since birth! My milk also seems to be decreasing weekly. The other day I nursed her and she was still hungry. I gave her 2 oz. of formula and that seemed to satisfy her. I had a little talk with her and said
"Maddie, you are not going to start weening on me now! I didn't struggle through the first 2 months of breastfeeding to just stop at 6 months!!! You will breastfeed for at least a year!" I think she understood. : ) I think I might try Fenugreek to get my milk supply up. I also have been trying to increase my feedings so I will keep my fingers crossed.....

The A'World A'Fair starts tonight!

Yay! I am totally excited! The A'World A'Fair has been a festival that is near and dear to my heart. I have been going to this fair since I was a little girl. This fair is all about culture. There are several different countries that participate in the fair. Each country has a booth that displays their culture. It is an awesome experience. Did I mention the food??? Each country sells food! The food is sooo good. They also have beer people. Beer from different countries! You can not go wrong with this festival. Oh yeah and they have entertainment! Each country shows off their native dance...my kids and my husband are dancing for the Philippines! So yeah, I am a little excited.....and yes...I am going to try to stay within my points......TRY! ....but can't promise! Hey, this festival is once a year! and I am going to get ready for the gym right now!!!!!!

One Lovely Blog

Thank you to Septembermom for giving me this LOVELY award. I am humbled. Week 14 weigh in

Ughhh!!!!! The scale was not nice to me this morning. It gave me a wake up call. The scale said all those bites, licks and tastes are adding up. I am up by 0.3. I am totally bummed : (

I made some bad choices this week. I didn't plan well. My servings may have been larger than what they were supposed to be. Bottom line is that I went over my points and now I have to deal with the consequences. Dang! I couldn't get to my goal this week and I am so disappointed. This week is going to be challenging as well. I just need to plan and stay within my points and keep exercising. In the past I would have just said "screw it, I am just meant to be this way" and I would have just given up. It has gone through my mind multiple times today.....but I am not going to give up. I know that this is a journey. I know that this is hard. But I am refusing to give up. I just need to be patient with myself.

Happy Mother's Day!

Motherhood
The dearest gifts that heaven holds,
The very finest, too,
Were made into one pattern
That was perfect,sweet, and true;
The Angels smiled, well-pleased, and said
"Compared to all the others,
This pattern is so wonderful
Let's use it just for Mothers!"
And through the years, a Mother
Has been all that's sweet and good
For there's one bit of God and love,
In all true Motherhood.
~Helen Steiner Rice~

Jacob had this poem for me in a little red trinket box with his picture in it. It was so cute! He had kept this and hid it the whole week! Allison "surprised"me with a mock aquarium that she made at preschool...and Ervin got me a wireless mouse for my laptop...

My mom is away in the Philippines at this time, but I am thinking of her....

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Maddie's 6 month visit and a surprise!

Maddie's doctor visit went well. She is meeting all of her milestones and is continuing to grow. Her weight this time was 16 lbs. and 1 oz. which puts her in the 45th percentile. Her length was 26 1/2 in. which puts her in the 70th percentile. The doctor also said she could feel a tooth coming in....I had no clue!!! lol...She is all smiles and is the best baby! I love the way she looks at me....she looks at me with so much love and adoration ...it just melts my heart. I am her BFF for sure. :) and she is mine...

This month we introduced her to the cup.

She is sitting up all by herself!

And now for the surprise!!!!!

I got my haircut!!! Really short!!! I love it!!!!!!

The Wine Dance (Binasuan)

This dance is called Binasuan or wine dance. It is one of my favorite Philippine folk dances. I think it is a tie between this one and tinikling. I can dance tinikling too btw. This is the closest I could get to what I looked like when I danced it. The music and the movements are pretty much the same. The choreography is different. This dance encompasses balancing a glass of "wine" on your head while dancing. I am a "retired" Philippine Folk dancer. My husband and kids are still dancing though!

4. I love my kids!!! They are my life and I don't know what I would do without them!

5. I have lost 24 pounds and counting on WW!

6. I can blog, breastfeed and watch American Idol all at the same time!

7. Being a nurse. Nursing is a big part of me, I can go 12 hours without peeing, eating, or drinking.....: )

My blog is super!?!?!

Yay! I got an award! I am so very flattered! : ) I started this blog as a way to be closer to my family and friends. Little did I know that I would make "cyber friends" too! My blog has turned out to be about everything in my life. One of the main parts of my life now is weight watchers. You all movitivate me to do the best that I can and I thank you!

This award was given to me by DaMora at From My Kitchen. She motivates me to do my best at this healthy lifestyle by giving out recipes and new food ideas. Just the other day I bought prunes for the first time because of her! The prunes are a great snack by the way! They were delicious and sweet and only 1 point(and full of fiber). I love em! Thank you for the award!

3 people I would like to nominate for this award:

Carla at Tales of the T's. She is a mother to 5 children, going to midwifery school, works full time, and still has time to blog! I don't know how she does it!

H.K. at H.K. Weighs in.... Her blog is beautiful and very inspirational and she is a great writer. She has the best quotes. I love reading her entries because they are down to earth and real life. I can really relate to her blog. She is also a wife and mom to an awesome teen, Moe.

Kelly at My Voice, My View.Kelly's blog is a joy to read. She is a poet and a great writer. She is also a wife and mother to 4 kids and has stories that any mom can relate to!

Rules: 1. Tape your award up on your blog
2. Pass it on to 3 super bloggers and comment on their blog to let them know that today is their lucky day!
3. When you present your super blogger award, link it back to the super blogger who gave it to you.

I just figured out how to do all that! You all should be proud of me!

Week 13 weigh in

It was a great week! I lost another 2.4 pounds! 24 pounds all together! I am one pound away from my first goal. I am hoping to make it there next week. I am really excited because this is my 13th week following the WW plan. I am embarrassed to say, but I have been on weight watchers on and off for over 9 years. 13 weeks is one of the longest times I have been on weight watchers and I am proud of that. I need to realize that this is a lifestyle change.....not a "diet" so when I do have days that are "bad" I just need to get over it and move on. Blogging has really helped me to stay on track. Reading your blogs and your comments help me tremendously. I am so glad that I found all of you who are in this with me. I feel like I am no longer alone in this struggle to be healthy.

Week in Review:

* I exercised 4 days this week....for a total of 23 activity points.

* I had a total of 33 servings of fruits and veggies this week...I slacked a little this week!

* I ate all of my activity points and all of my WPA's. : )

* I had cake and ice cream this week, and I indulged in some chocolate!

* I also went about 8 points over this week. I worked all night Sunday, came home at around 8:30 am, got ready for a funeral/viewing, went to the funeral/viewing, had lunch at the church with the family(this is where my extra points went), came home, and finally at 4:30 pm, I was in my bed and slept until 8pm, then I had a piece of pizza, then I went back to sleep for the rest of the night!

I tell you what! Exhaustion, sadness, and hunger is not a good combo...:-(
I have been under calculating my activity points on purpose so I think that I may have evened the extra points out...

I am excited for this week. I am always excited to start fresh and this is where I get into trouble. I think "Tuesday is here! I have all of these extra points now!" and then I use all of my extra points too quickly and early in my week. So , that is what I am going to work on this week.....but I think we are scheduled for a Chipotle dinner tonight....but I promise, I am going to work on that the rest of the week!

Superstars

My kids are superstars at soccer! :) Allie scored her first goal this past weekend! I guess since her brother scored last week she thought she should step up her game and score too! Jacob's game was cancelled because the 6-7 year old field was like a "swamp". I was kind of disappointed. I thoroughly enjoy watching them play!
